Happy Moments KISS

Before I tell you about the card in this post, I just want to say a heartfelt thankyou to everyone who visits my blog and especially those who leave such lovely comments.  They mean so much to me, especially over the last few weeks.  I look at my followers list and the idea that there are 38 people in the world who are interested in what I have to share makes me feel rather teary!

Okay, enough of my blubbering... ;-)

The card I want to share with you tonight is a KISS card - Keep It Simple Sweetie (or Silly... Stupid... lol).  I really like creating cards that have a simple look about them... but I'm rarely able to just whip something up, and I'm in complete admiration of anyone who can!  I fuss over every single detail of everything I make, to the point where I frustrate myself!!

Tonight's card is one of a series I'm halfway through making.  I started by black embossing 6 of the present image from Happy Moments on watercolour paper and then set about watercolouring them all with the same colours, but with variations.  I'm absolutely smitten with watercolouring lately - I'd love to know what you think of my efforts!  Here's where I frustrated myself - I went slightly out of the embossed lines and I just couldn't tear my eyes away from this tiny mistake... so that's how this variation came about (you'll see what I mean in a minute!).

Sorry in advance - the colours I've used are the Stampin' Up! US In Colours (I was lucky enough to get my hands on all six!).  FYI - from April 1 Australia will have Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry and Soft Suede, and my goodness they're gorgeous colours!

See what I mean?  I was forced to trim around the entire image and use it in a different way than I had planned.  But I really like it like this!

I proudly showed my hubby and he said: "Ahhh, you've used your kitchen string again..."! *rolls eyes*

A close-up of those gorgeous colours (although I have to say that I'm not keen on the name Crushed Curry - it leaves me with an overwhelming urge to sniff the ink pad to see if it smells like a curried egg sandwich...).

Materials:
Stamp Set - Happy Moments (Sale-A-Bration 2010)
Cardstock - Kraft, Naturals Ivory, Watercolour paper
Inks - Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay, Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede - on the envelope, Versamark
Accessories - Black embossing powder, heat tool, Dimensionals, Aquapainter, Kitchen string!

  2. I think your so called mistake, assisted you in making a great card! That is often the case I find with myself anyway, so what is a mistake in crafting then, just a change of direction.

I always tell the girls at my workshops "There are no mistakes in stamping, just creative opportunities!"

  8. Oh, I LOVE this! I so wish we were getting Crushed Curry (love what you said about that!), but I'll just have to admire what you do with it :) Totally 'hear' you about being rather, um, fussy about your watercolouring. This was a great 'save', and looks fantastic with the string.
