Craft-A-Lot

By now, you’ve probably realised that I’m no longer a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. I resigned last week, primarily because I’m finding myself using a wider variety of products and I was getting very frustrated at not being able to link to these companies on my blog.

When I resigned, I was quietly hoping to get myself a position on a Design Team. And I’m absolutely gobsmacked to be able to say that I was accepted by not one, but TWO Design Teams! :-)

Craft-A-Lot is a fabulous online store based in Brisbane, Australia, and they have some of THE best prices I’ve seen in Australia for stamps and accessories, not to mention free postage at the moment! Stock is constantly being added – I’m a frequent stalker visitor. Colleen, the owner, is super friendly, so make sure you drop her an email if you can’t find what you’re after. You never know your luck!

Now for a little card share. You might remember this card from this previous post

Well… now I can tell you where to get it. :-) Right here - Simply Gorjuss - Little Red. And make sure you check out the other stamps in the Gorjuss range while you’re there. They’re adorable.

You can also follow Craft-A-Lot on facebook!

I’ll have lots more to share for both Design Teams, so stay tuned! :-)

Sympathy

Earlier this week my uncle lost his battle with cancer.  There's no way to write that sentence that could possibly convey just how shattered I am by his death.  He was a beautiful soul, with an incredibly mischievous spirit - he actually attended my wedding dressed as a woman!  Another story for another time.  We're heading off tomorrow to the mainland for his funeral.  I just hope I can hold it together.  I'm teary at the best of times.

So I found myself in need of some sympathy cards.  I couldn't focus enough to design anything original, so I cased a couple of my recent cards.  I thought I'd share them here because I wanted to show how a few subtle changes made the same design work for a sympathy card.

Card One.  See the original card HERE.  And here are my sympathy versions.

I tried two different stamps from the same Papertrey Ink set for the die cut.  They both worked beautifully.

Card One
Materials:
Stamp sets - PTI - Turning A New Leaf, Mat Stack 3, SU Trendy Trees (sentiment)
Cardstock - White Cambric Linen, Crumb Cake
Inks - Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Early Espresso
Accessories - Big Shot, Beautiful Butterflies die, Mat Stack 3 die, bown felt, pearls, Blue Seam Binding, sponge dauber

And Card 2.  See the original card HERE.  Again, only minor differences.

Card Two
Materials:
Stamp sets - PTI - Signature Greetings, Communique Curves
Cardstock - Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Early Espresso
Inks - Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
Accessories - Blue Seam Binding, dimensionals, Big Shot, Nestibilities

Something A Little Different...

I originally came across this fabulous Baby Doll Accessories Tutorial on Craftaholics Anonymous.  It's by Christina from 2 Little Hooligans, and you can also find the tutorial here on her blog.  She does the most AMAZING sewing tutorials.  They're so indepth and easy to follow.  Make sure you check out her other tutorials!

And here's the version I made for my daughter.  They're nowhere near as polished or detailed as Christina's, but they were very quick and used some leftover polar fleece I had in the cupboard.  Too easy!

And the best part?  Olivia loves them.  :-)

It Seemed So Simple...

Well, this challenge nearly had me beat.  All I had to do was add a reference to music.  And I thought I'd hit the jackpot with a new ribbon I'd just bought.  But I didn't realise just how incompatible this ribbon and I would be.  You see, it's... Aqua

I know, I know... Aqua is a lovely colour.  It's calm, it's serene, it's gorgeous in satin... But we just have too many differences.  Many a time I've been seduced by this luscious colour, but it always ends badly.

It's not the finished product that's the problem, it's the process.  I'm quite pleased with the card itself.  But that ribbon... it mocks me.  It knows that it was the reason this card took three days to come together.

This ribbon knows that it is the reason that all my previously unmounted stamps are now mounted, all my pencils are sharpened, and I've watched an entire series of The Good Wife just trying to make it through this ordeal.

It is the reason that I simply couldn't resist using a sentiment inappropriately to create a pun.

So it is with great sadness that I must announce that Aqua and I are parting ways.  We're just no good for each other.  *sniff*

Congrats Challenge

Hello!  I have a quick card to share with you.  Well... I'm sharing it quickly - as per usual, it took me a ridiculous amount of time to make.  ;-)

And here are the challenges I'm entering:

Ppa pic

I don't think I have a signature style as such, but I have been using an awful lot of seam binding lately... so I hope that counts!

And I'm also throwing my hat into the ring for the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol.  I don't have even the teeniest chance of getting through the first round, but I figured I'd enter anyway.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cupcake Anya... Deconstructed Sketch

Hello!  I have a cute card to share with you tonight... thanks to the fabulous sketch at Deconstructing Jen!  I didn't want to cover the pretty patterned paper with a flat colour, so I used vellum instead.  I really love the effect vellum gives to soften patterned paper.

I'm still working on the right combination of colours to achieve blonde hair with my Prismacolour pencils.

And of course, I had to use seam binding.  :-)

Here are the challenges I'm entering...
