Welcome to the Young Crafters Unite Our Favorite Things Blog Hop!  If you’ve been following the blog hop from the beginning, you should have arrived from Ashley Nguyen Newell’s blog.

The bloggers in today’s hop have been asked “What makes you a young crafter?”.  I’m definitely not the youngest crafter around (I'm 33), but there are a couple of reasons I felt I could join in this blog hop.  I’ve been making cards for 2 years now (that’s young-ish, isn’t it??), I love colouring images for my cards, and my latest favourite thing to do on cards is to use seam binding.  So since that’s new-ish and a favourite thing, I figured I’d join in!

Another of my all-time favourite things to do on a card is to let the image take the focus.  I think it’s partially because I spend a lot of time colouring the image though!

So, here is the card that I made for today’s blog hop, using Simply Gorjuss - Puddles Of Love from Craft-A-Lot.  Isn’t it a gorgeous image?  I adore the Gorjuss range of stamps.

I coloured her using Prismacolour pencils and Odourless Mineral Spirits.  It’s not very clear in the photos, but I’ve used a Papertrey Ink Impressions Plate to create a subtle background on the card base as well.

And of course, a seam binding bow using Medoc Seam Binding from Sew Sweet.  Isn’t it a beautiful colour? 



Materials:

Stamp sets – Simply Gorjuss - Puddles Of Love

Cardstock – Whisper White, Naturals Ivory

Inks – Black Memento, Prismacolour pencils

Accessories – OMS, blending stumps, Medoc Seam Binding, Antique Brad, Big Shot, PTI Impressions Plate

I originally posted this tutorial HERE in March, but I thought I'd re-post it for the blog hop today because it's my absolute favourite way to use seam binding on a card.

I've developed a major weakness for seam binding and I'm finding myself using it quite a bit on my cards.  I love it because it's soft and light, and really easy to work with.  I've had a couple of messages and emails asking about how to tie a double bow with seam binding, so I thought I'd take a few photos of the process for you.  Hope it helps!

Tying a Double Bow With Seam Binding

Tie a regular bow.

Pull a separate piece of seam binding underneath the knot in the first bow.

Tie a knot over the previous bow.

Tie a second regular bow.  Because seam binding is so light and soft,

you can get away with multiple bows before the knot in the middle begins to look overbearing.

Secure and trim the ends of the tails.  Seam binding frays easily, so be wary!

The finished bow!  I secure mine to the cardstock with a mini glue dot.

My other favourite thing to do with seam binding is to secure the knot with a gorgeous brad, like I did for the first card in this post.

Stamp sets - Bumble Bee (Sugar Nellie Gorjuss)

Cardstock - Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Haiku DSP

Inks – Versamark, Blush Blossom, Rich Razzleberry, Crumb Cake, Basic Black

Accessories - Black embossing powder, heat tool, aqua painter, White Seam Binding
